Define the information you need
Start by listing the material information required by your customer or purchasing team. Specify whether you need a recycled-content statement, batch documentation or a description of material sourcing. Keep each request tied to the product and supplier being reviewed.
A claim about one PET grade should not be extended to every other grade. Ask what is documented for the proposed strap, who issued that information and whether it covers the material you plan to purchase.
Connect material and application
Include the bale, equipment and handling requirements alongside the material questions. Recycled-content information is one part of the brief; it does not replace dimensions, performance requirements or compatibility checks.
If the requested material changes, identify what needs to be reviewed on the actual line and record the conditions used for that review.
Describe the collection route
Ask how used strapping is collected at the destination. Record sorting, contamination and local collection arrangements rather than assuming that the same process exists everywhere.
Share any packaging or labeling requirements intended to help the receiving site identify the material.
Keep the documentation together
Store the agreed material information with the product specification and purchasing record. Record the date and product reference so later enquiries can use the same context.
Bring unanswered questions to the supplier discussion before treating a material claim as an established project outcome.
Sources and scope
Public references provide industry context. Other manufacturers’ specifications are not Newton approvals. Paid standards were not accessed in full.
