PET Strapping Specifications and Technical Selection

Choosing polyester strapping starts with the package and the equipment that will apply it. A useful inquiry connects the strap dimensions, coil format and performance requirements with the way the load is packed, handled and received.

Features
  • Application first. Bring load dimensions, contact surfaces and handling conditions into one clear specification.
  • Material productivity. Review weight per meter alongside the performance required for your packaging process.
  • Equipment integration. Connect strap dimensions, feed requirements, tensioning and sealing with the line you use.
  • Recycled material. Discuss post-consumer polyester and the documentation relevant to your application.
  • Controlled properties. Review tensioning, weldability and fabrication tolerances against the agreed specification.

Build a specification that a supplier can answer

Send the same information when you request a quotation, review a sample or approve a repeat order. Keep a revision number on the specification so that changes in thickness, winding or other requirements remain visible.

Treat an unknown field as a question for the review. Do not fill it with a value from a different supplier's catalogue.

Review the strap, equipment and package together

Before changing a consumable, assemble the machine or tool documentation, the current strap specification and a description of the problem you want to solve. This keeps an inquiry about feed interruptions separate from one about joint failure or a changing load.

Ask the equipment provider which dimensions, materials and settings are permitted. Record the conditions used for a sample review. Agree with the responsible packaging team how material checks, joint checks and the finished-package review will be evaluated.

The equipment compatibility checklist provides a place to organize that discussion. It is not a blanket approval for a particular machine and grade combination.

Compare surface options using your process

Surface appearance is one part of the specification. Give the supplier the existing surface, machine model and the reason for considering a change. Request a trial against the process requirements rather than choosing a finish from a general claim about performance.

Buyer questionRecord for the review
What finish is currently used?Current product reference and photographs
What issue is being investigated?Feed, grip, joint or handling observations
What changed between samples?Dimensions, finish, batch and settings
What would constitute acceptance?Agreed observations, measurements and sign-off

Plan the next order on a consistent basis

Keep the accepted specification, sample identity and supply-format requirements with the order. When comparing quotations, identify the currency, destination, delivery basis and quantity unit. Separate net strap mass from packaging and core mass.

Use actual inputs for material-use calculations. A calculated length or cost does not establish package suitability. Ask for a review when the product, machine or handling conditions change.

Frequently asked questions

Is “PET strapping” enough information for a quotation?

It identifies the material category. A useful quotation also needs the application, dimensions, coil format, required properties and purchase information.

Can I order by width alone?

Provide the other controlling requirements as well. Width does not identify a complete grade or prove equipment fit.

Does Newton offer the exact size and supply terms I need?

Ask Newton to confirm them in the quotation. This page does not assert an unpublished size, stock location, minimum order or lead time.
